Yichang is the city with the 2nd largest GDP Wuhan in Hubei Province of China. Given its geographical location, the city serves as the transport hub for central China. Yichang boasts many scenic spots that attract great numbers of tourists from around China and other countries. The famous Three Gorges Dam is situated right outside the city, making it the hydro power capital of the world.
In its eight years of history, YCIS has produced six batches of graduates totaling 144 students, over 30% of whom entered top 10 UK universities, with the rest gaining entry into reputable tertiary institutions around the world. This year our graduating class received many conditional offers, including 2 from Imperial College London and 2 from UCL. Two invitations for interview from Oxford University and a third from Cambridge University were also received.
We are currently at just over 150 for the student population and plan to expand that figure to 600 or more in three to five years.
Course Offerings And Year Level Structure
YCIS offers the British IGCSE and A Level courses across four different year levels. Each stratum of courses runs for two years, ending with eponymous CIE administered examinations. The following subjects are offered for each stratum:
IGCSE: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Geography, History, Art & Design, Chinese 1st Language, English 2nd Language, English 1st Language
A Level: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Computing Science, History, Art & Design
Year Levels: There are four year levels at YCIS, namely G1, G2, A1 and A2, which do not necessarily correspond to subject levels. While most courses in either stratum take two years to complete, IGCSE Maths is a one-year course in G1 year, and A Level Maths is completed also within one year in G2 year. IGCSE English as 1st Language is taught in A1 year. All other courses correspond to their year levels, e.g. 2nd year IGCSE Biology is taken by students in G2 year.
